Your First Massage
Your Massage Therapist will escort you to the treatment room, and perhaps ask a few questions about your health intake form, or how you would like the session to proceed. You will have a few minutes by yourself to dress down and get on the table. How much clothing you remove depends on your comfort level, the type of massage you've requested, and areas to be treated. Cover yourself with provided sheets and blankets. Your therapist will knock before entering the room. If you've ordered heat packs or ItWorks! wraps they will be applied at this time.
Unless you've requested a different style, we proceed in a Swedish format, applying a cream directly to your skin. We will uncover one area of the body at a time, and cover you again before moving on. Respecting your modesty, pressure, and temperature needs is important to your relaxation, so please let your therapist know if you are uncomfortable in any way. Each therapist has a unique skill set; if you need deep tissue, sports event preparation, prenatal, shiatsu, or other modalities, please ask. We will schedule you with a qualified practitioner. Your input improves your treatments greatly; feel free to give us verbal feedback or instructions, or participate by breathing deeply, clearing your mind, and/or taking notice of sensations you have during or after treatments.
After Your Massage
We will leave you in the room alone to get dressed. Get up slowly at first; you may feel woozy, or change in position or blood pressure can cause a “head rush”. Be sure you have all your things, then come out to the lobby. Hydration improves the effectiveness of your treatments, so we will again offer water. Now you can pay your bill; we accept cash, checks, credit cards, and gift certificates (if you're lucky enough to have one). This is a great time to schedule your next massage, grab a few menus and referral cards to share, or treat your loved ones to gift certificates. Try ItWorks! support product, and take advantage of ItWorks! introductory offers.
Take in the garden on your way back out to the world. We hope you have enjoyed your time with us!
Follow Up
Therapeutic massage is part of a whole lifestyle of health and wellbeing. We encourage clients and staff alike to engage in healthy choices, at the spa and every day.
A massage is an occasional peak in our everyday experience, a reminder to treat ourselves well. There are many places to make little improvements. The following positive lifestyle habits can help you feel better all the time, not just after your massage:

FOCUS ON HEALTH AND SAFETY
The health and wellness of our clients and staff are the highest priority for us here at A Healthy Choice. We know that many of you have concerns about the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and what precautions we all need to take. The cold and flu season is also a good reminder that massage therapists assure you that we practice proper sanitation, hygiene and standard precautions at all times in our establishment. Precautions protect both you the client and our therapists.
The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention provides the latest information about the Coronavirus and prevention. An important first step is to check for regular updates on the CDC website.
For your personal protection, the CDC recommends that everyone follow these simple approaches to self-care:
Avoid close contact with people who are sick. It is not advisable for us to provide massage if a client or a massage therapist has symptoms of a cold or the flu.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Stay home when you are sick.
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using an appropriate cleaning spray or wipe.
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if they are visibly dirty.
We have placed sanitizing wipes in each room for your convenience. We use them regularly on surfaces such as light switches, door knobs, massage tables, etc.
We have reviewed our cancellation policy and will accept cancellations, even with little notice, with no penalty. We do still request that you inform us in advance if you need to cancel. Please also understand that if your therapist becomes ill and we do not have another person available, we will need to cancel your appointment.
Stay safe and healthy.
